** A National Radio Tour, Country Radio Seminar (CRS)
And Live Shows Still to Come in February**
Nashville, TN (January 31, 2006) – John Corbett blasted onto the Billboard Country Radio chart this week as the “Hotshot” debut at No. 48 with the first single “Good to Go” from his self-titled Fun Bone Records album, which is scheduled to hit stores on April 4, 2006. By all accounts, it’s a history-making week in country music with no other independent record label ever having garnered those numbers in its first week in the monitored airplay era.
Making history with independent projects seems to be a pattern for Corbett, who was wildly successful as Ian Miller in 2002’s small indy film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” which has grossed over 240 million dollars to date.
“I get questions all the time about why I decided to do this on my own label. Why not?” asks Corbett. “I like to do things different, and sometimes with a little luck and a lot of hard work, it pays off.”
With early adds at 12 stations and many others following closely behind, “Good To Go” could be heard across the country this week from Los Angeles (KZLA) to Albuquerque (KBQI and KRST) to Cincinnati (WUBE) to West Palm Beach (WIRK).
Corbett is spending the next several weeks on a whirlwind radio tour that will include Texas, the Midwest, Florida and the Northeast. He will also stop through Nashville to attend the Country Radio Seminar from Feb 13 – Feb 16 and perform three shows at Nashville’s world-famous Tootsie’s Lounge on Feb. 15 – 17.
“You know, I came to Nashville and decided to try a different approach and put this album out on my own label and take a risk,” explains Corbett. “But I’ve been out on the road the past two weeks and getting to know the radio guys and playing my music, and whatever the risk, it is worth it.”
“Good To Go” was written by Tim Nichols and Rodney Clawson and is one of the 12 tracks from the forthcoming album that was produced by D. Scott Miller and Tara Novick and distributed by Navarre Entertainment Media. Album release date is April 4, 2006.
